Within this stage we define the project main idea, target audience, purpose, objectives, and policies for information development and use; set prior requirements and evaluation criteria.
The purpose of this stage is to make the decisions which can otherwise drastically affect the whole process of site development and, as the result, customer satisfaction.
Such questions as
- What is the main idea of web-project?
- Is there a need in such project?
- What are its goals and objectives?
- What is its target audience?
are considered with the client in order to determine the methodologies, techniques, and that will be used in the stages of development. Planning also is done in order to specify what supporting information is to be collected, how it will be collected, and how the information will be updated. Preliminary choice of the development environment is made. The organizational structure and the number of specialists needed is determined. Also the prior project requirements and quality criteria are discussed together with the client. As a result of the first stage, a prior technical specification appears. The client should provide the necessary information and data need to start the next development stage.
