People who are successful in managing other gain such brilliant results because of their positive thinking and willingness to build strong and long-lasting relationships with their team. Their goal is to become partners with employees, not adversaries. And their secret is in friendly attitude to others, in providing a sense of involvement, sharing and encouragement to let their staff know they are welcome and valued.

What separates a good leader from a great leader sometimes is just the right words to say to your subordinates. So maybe you should use them too:

Remember Important Tiny Words

  1. Please.

No one likes to ordered and bossed around, so despite your position as a boss you should always be polite when you’re asking employees to do anything for you.

  1. Thank you.

It’s surprising how often employees complain about their boss never saying them thank you for a good job. Be a grateful manager generous with praise and your team will appreciate it very much.

  1. I’m sorry.

The power of a true apology spoken after something offending or upsetting shouldn’t be underestimated. These two words are so powerful they can heal the worst wounds.

Show Respect

  1. What’s your opinion?

Your employees provide you with an inexhaustible source of ideas and it can be most of these ideas has never come to your mind. Besides, asking their opinion means you care about what you think and you value their input.

  1. I trust you.

It’s essential for your every employee to feel that they are trusted by their boss. When they feel trusted, they are encouraged to pay you back with good work, loyalty and their own trust.

  1. I’m proud of you.

No doubt there’s no person in the world who wouldn’t like it when someone’s proud with their work and accomplishments. By letting people know you’re proud of the things they’ve done for you you draw them closer and gain their loyalty.

Take Off the Pressure

  1. It’s not your fault.

There are often problems which your employees just couldn’t help so no sense in scolding anybody for those. Once you’ve recognized such a situation, it’s critical that you let your team know you understand the situation and don’t blame anybody for it.

  1. Nobody’s perfect.

Never play that blame game when the employees make mistakes – this will only cause them to avoid any work beyond their required minimum  later on. Instead, when somebody’s made a mistake, tell them it’s OK and as long as the necessary lessons are learned from those, you’ll always give them your support.

  1. How can I help you?

Employees are always looking for your support. Whenever you offer your help and actually help them, you are demonstrating they really can rely on you even in extreme situations.

Emphasize Their Strengths

  1. You can do it.

If you are confident if the abilities of your employees, their self-confidence increases and the probability they are going to reach their goals raises accordingly.

  1. It’s a great idea!

By taking up their ideas and putting them in practice you motivate your employees to create and innovate new solutions.

  1. Anything is possible.

Always motivate your team. Whenever you are positive about the challenge, they are more inclined to be positive and capable of, too.

Don’t Be Afraid of Looking Weak

  1. I couldn’t have made it without you.

People want recognition for their job, not only money. So let them know you appreciate their contributions and see them as an important part of the team.

  1. It was my mistake.

Overcome yourself and admit your fault publicly and correct the mistake immediately to gain instant respect from your employees.

  1. I need your help.

Just don’t be afraid to ask for help. Your employees know bosses need assistance, too. So you only look stronger when you can recognize it and be frank with them.
