Microsoft Releases Forefront Identity Manager  In Beta

The post of Forefront Identity Manager states that there is a new beta version available for download of the next Microsoft’s FIM.

The Forefront Identity Manager 2010 R2 beta may be downloaded via website of the Microsoft Connect. According to Microsoft the upcoming release comprises of the following features:

  • Historic reporting deploying integration to the data warehouse of System Center Service Manager
  • Credential management along with web based reset of password
  • Additional support for Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 and Microsoft Outlook 2010
  • More ease of usage by means of enhanced initial load performance, perfected diagnostic and scale performance and enhanced load.

Microsoft company intends to ship the R2 version of Forefront Identity Manager 2010 in half of 2012. Microsoft introduced Forefront Identity Manager 2010 in March 2010.

Forefront Identity Manager presents a digital-identity-management product by Microsoft which integrates with Exchange Server and Active Directory. FIM 2010 is the successor to the offering of Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager (before which was the Certificate Lifecycle Manager and Microsoft Identity Integration Server products). Forefront Identity Manager handles such tasks as certificate management, user provisioning, identity synchronization, user password resets, etc.

FIM 2010 represents one of the Microsoft’s Identity group products, this group is operating on security and identity products for both cloud and server. There has been a reorganisation in the group and Microsoft is searching for a new leader for the Identity division.
